The Royal Family's love affair Down Under
The Daily Telegraph published details on The Queen's programme in Australia saying that "Australia, a high-profile member of the Commonwealth, has been a favoured destination for many member of the Royal Family over the past 144 years".
"The first royal tour to the country was made in 1867-68 by Prince Alfred, the Queen Victoria's second son, who later become the Duke of Edinburgh.
"During his visit, it was reported that he was “met with enormous warmth” in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane during a world tour on board HMS Galatea."
Queen Elizabeth has celebrated all aspects of Australian culture and life, visiting many of the country’s major landmarks, attended major sporting events and met thousands of locals.
